ALCUIN's

 OPTO--On-line PaperTutor Option

ALCUIN's OPTO is intended to supplement the Academic Learning Center's Drop-in Paper Tutoring by offering members of the Marist Community the option of using that service electronically. It is specifically--but not exclusively--aimed at those of you who have difficulty coming in during our normal walk-in hours. Like the face-to-face service, there is no charge for having OPTO look at your paper. We would, however, like you to be aware of and prepared for the following:

You can send you paper to us by filling out the form below. Turnaround time for your paper is normally 48 hours. If your paper is longer than 10 pages, please call x2158 and let us know so that additional online proofreaders can be made available.

We may recommend that you make an appointment for the face-to-face service. Please do not interpret our doing so as a sign that your paper or writing skills are "bad;" rather, it may reflect the limitations of what we can accomplish in the absence of a direct, face-to-face dialogue.

We recommend checking your paper according to the style sheet found at Purdue University's On-Line Writing Lab.

Should you wish to continue your research, click here to visit the ALC's On-Line Research, News and Information Resources.

Should you have a problem using OPTO, we ask that you send e-mail to Kathryn.DiCorcia@Marist.edu describing the difficulty as specifically as you can. Please type "problem" in the subject heading, and include the type of word processor you are using. This will hopefully enable us to solve the problem quickly.

More on our On-line Paper Tutor Option is available on the information page.

Though we intend for OPTO to work smoothly during all stages of transmission,we may occasionally encounter "bugs" in the system.

After submitting your paper, you will be taken to a page presenting you with an anonymous USER SURVEY form; we hope you will take a few moments to complete it.

**Warning: The computer is currently having problems reading text that includes apostrophes.**
**For the time being, please write out all your words in full until we find a solution. Thank you.**

**Please note that the site will be open in September, 2006.
