Program participants are assigned to the academic administrators on the FOCUS team who serve as academic advisors. Marist’s advisors recognize that students have varying wants, needs and interests at different points in their academic careers. Consistent contact with their advisors, as well as the guidance and information that the advisement process provides, helps students transition from one milestone to the next. Advisors help students to better understand how various courses come together to form a meaningful academic experience. Students are required to consult with their advisors during registration periods to obtain guidance for course selection. As a special feature of the program, FOCUS students will also participate in group advising sessions conducted by instructors in the special FOCUS courses. In fact, by the very design of the program, FOCUS students receive continuous advisement via the special topics and personal attention they receive from FOCUS program staff. | ![]() |
