What Dirty Children Know
What does it mean to know something? And how can we reason about the knowledge of another? These questions arise in fields ranging from philosophy to economics to political science to artificial intelligence.
In this talk, we will discuss a particular set of models of knowledge, which build on basic propositional logic. The Dirty Children Problem will be described, and we'll see how one of these models can be used to solve it. We'll examine the properties of several models, and see the intuitive strengths and weaknesses of each. If time allows, deeper topics from the field of multi-agent systems may be introduced.
