The Mandelbrot Set, Farey Tree, and Fibonacci Sequence
In this lecture we describe several folk theorems concerning the Mandelbrot set. We show how one can determine the dynamics of the corresponding quadratic maps by visualizing tiny regions in the Mandelbrot set. We also show how the size and location of the bulbs in the Mandelbrot set are governed by Farey arithmetic.
