Title:

An Illustration and Discussion of Propensity Score Analysis to Correct for Selection Bias

Abstract:

Selection bias can result in treatment groups that are not similar in important respects. In fact, groups can differ even when assignments have been made in a random fashion. Propensity Score Analysis is a technique to correct for a large part of this bias. We give a brief discussion of the technique, and illustrate its use in a study involving tutoring remediation for at risk first grade children.

Audience:

This talk will be appropriate for students who have had Intro Stats and worked with statistics in their majors as well as interested faculty.
