Mathematics in Industry: Examples and Algorithms
Students have been asking for years, "What can I do with a degree in Mathematics?" In this talk we will examine practical applications of sophisticated mathematics within the computer industry. A number of different fields, job responsibilities and mathematical disciplines will be discussed. In particular, three case studies will be presented
- Geometric solutions to software development problems in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Mathematical research topics in Visualization.
- ROI and Outcomes Modeling in the Interactive industry, a management perspective.
