Title:

Rotations in R^3 Using Quaternions

Abstract:

Conventional Methods of describing rotations of R^3 use Euler angles and matrices. We give an overview of this method and describe an alternative method using Quaternions. Some advatages of using Quaternions in computer graphics will be discussed.

Audience:

This talk will be appropriate for undergraduates. James will be presenting this talk at the Hudson River Undergraduate Mathematics Conference at Siena College on Saturday, 17 April. He has kindly agreed to give us a preview, so please make every effort to come and give him your support.
