Syllabus
Description and Goals
This fascinating survey course will introduce students to the salient features of Western Civilization, from the beginnings to the end of the Renaissance, 4000 B.C. to 1600 A.D. We will be looking at interaction between specific Peoples and their cultures, thoroughly investigating the development of
political, social,Economic, intellectual features of each civilization, including trade, war,religion, empire Building, etc. Specific histories to be covered: Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome,
Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Reformation.
