Laboratory Safety Agreement

While in the laboratory, I agree to:

  1. wear approved eye protection at all times
  2. wear sensible clothing (including no open-toed or high-heeled shoes) and tie back long hair
  3. never eat or drink
  4. avoid absorbing chemicals by
  1. not attempt any unauthorized experiments
  2. know where safety equipment is and how to use it
  3. never work alone
  4. use the fume hood when necessary, or when so directed
  5. dispose of waste and excess materials according to instructions
  6. assemble apparatus carefully
  7. avoid touching hot objects
  8. use extreme caution when inserting glass tubing into stoppers
  9. keep my laboratory space clean
  10. handle chemicals with extreme caution by

15. thoroughly my wash hands at the end of each laboratory period

16. take immediate action as needed in response to burns, splattered chemicals, fire or injuries

17. report all accidents and injuries, no matter how small, to my laboratory instructor

Failure to follow these practices will result in dismissal from the laboratory.
