"Marist College, a "mid-sized institute that proudly offers competitive academics, career placement, and a well-rounded college experience," is "the perfect size." Students tell us that it's "small enough that professors remember your name and address you as a person, not a number, but large enough that you are not constantly seeing the same people every day." Pre-professional and career-track programs are most popular here; students laud the "great communications program" with its "unique digital media major" and "strong internship connections," the "very good education program," the popular business programs, and the "excellent chemistry department, where personal attention is unmatched." Students here keep their eyes on the prize: They sing the praises of the Center for Career Services, noting that "our career services and internship opportunities are amazing. By the end of your senior year you will most likely complete an internship with a big name company, either in the local area or in New York City, which we are in close proximity to." They also love the Study Abroad Office, which "has connected students with many countries around the world, allowing students to study abroad for a semester, year, or short-term period." Further sweetening the deal are the school's "strong connections to IBM" and "an amazing library that is ranked among the top 20 in the country." The arts, on the other hand, are a weak spot; students report that Marist "could try to emphasize a stronger interest in fine arts: music, orchestra, choirs, and independent groups."
