| This slide pictures neutrophils, one type of granulocyte found normally in peripheral blood. Picture "a" shows a band (also known as a stab). This is a young neutrophil, the only young white cell normally seen in peripheral blood. The nucleus has no segments. Pictures "b", "c" and "d" are all mature, segmented neutrophils. The nucleus can have two to five segments connected by fine filaments. The cytoplasm has pale lilac colored granules. |
